following chapters in the manual:
What's new?
The new features include:
- Once authenticated via a Gatekeeper, an H.323 video conference
station can now dial into a Marratech meeting room.
- Improved video follows audio for H.323 end points connected
to a meeting room.
- Introduction of chat and media activity logging functionality.
- Significantly improved performance of the import function
for users and groups.
- Workaround for Broadvoice's non compliant SIP implementation.
- Student moderator roll now called Attendee.
- Upgrading to a new Manager keeps room id's for imported
rooms.
- The Connection Check tool now works in the Viewer for
client 6.1
- Default CSS file modified to better handle Asian characters
(font changes)
Some notes:
- Marratech Free does not support H.264
- A new license key is required.
Some notes about Moderation
- Moderator functionality requires at least version 6.0
of the client.
Known Issues
- The Connection Check tool mayl fail if you are already
in a meeting on the server you are testing against as the
ports may be busy.
- SSL certificates must be removed manually. To do this,
delete the mkeys file from the SSL directory.
- SIP "reinvite" functionality not supported and implemented.
- Do not use hyphens, or other characters when entering
a phone number to dial out with SIP. For example, use 15555551212
instead of 1-555-555-1212.
- When setting an external address for NAT handling in the
Network and Details page, a manual restart of the whole
server is required.
H.323 Limitations
- The H.323 bridge uses ports 5060 to 5160 and 53000 to
53099 by default. The ports must be configured in your firewall.
- When defining an H.323 line, be sure the ports do not
collide with other SIP / H.323 lines defined.
- When using H.323 remember that traffic between the Manager
and the H.323 end point is NOT encrypted.
- To call to a H.323 station that has public address, a
public address will be needed for your Marratech Manager.
- A 3.5 Manager placed behind a NAT may not be able to place
an H.323 call to a end point outside the NAT.
- H.261 and PCMU are the only video / audio standards supported.
Transcoding will take place in the Manager.
- Calling an MCU has been successfully tested but is not
supported.
- Testing has shown that success rates are higher when using
the latest firmware in your H.323 end points.
- Our H.323 solution is based on an open source H.323 project.
Therefore, the compatibility list will be very similiar.
For instance, there are compatibility problems with Polycom
FX and the Polycom ViewStation series.
- Please consult our
user forum and share your experiences in using our H.323
call out capabilities.
