What's new in 5.1?

Marratech 5.1 is a relatively minor update to version 5.0. It includes the following:

  • Support for Marratech Free servers. (Read http://www.marratech.com/free/ for more details.)
  • An audio-related issue was solved where participants within a meeting could randomly hang simultaneously.
  • Built in support for multiple languages.
  • Improved layout in the Preferences
  • Improved repaint performance under Tiger for Mac OS X users.

Known issues in 5.1

  • The MeetNow! functionality (aka Java Web Start Technology) enables the Marratech client to be download, installed, executed and join a meeting from a single click in a web browser. This relatively new technology must be enabled on your Marratech Manager. Furthermore, most problems with this can be fixed by clearing the cache in your Java console. Read the manual chapter for more details...
  • When using MeetNow! on Windows with more than one active network interface (IPv6, or VPN), the client may lose connection after 8 hours due to an issue with the Java Virtual Machine on Windows from Sun Microsystems. This only affects Windows, MeetNow! and computers with more than one active network interface.
  • Client must be shutdown and restarted when you change language.
  • The audio test button does not work if the client is started via MeetNow.
  • Keyboard shortcuts (mnenomics) in the translated versions are not perfect. (Still a learning curve for us)
  • Chinese traditional and simplified are not completely translated yet. Our deadline passed before we got the update. This will be fixed in the next update.

Previous important changes in Version 5.0

Here are the important changes that will affect usage for Marratech users:

  • One window interface. The interface now integrates all windows. The Viewer and the Whiteboard can be switched from the lower left corner tab. This means users will need to press the lower tab button to view the Whiteboard.
  • Walkie-Talkie Mode. To save bandwidth, increase voice quality and make the Video Follows Audio work, Walkie-Talkie Mode is default. To speak, you need to keep the microphone button pressed in with your mouse. If you want to keep it clicked in to work in other areas of Marratech, press CTRL while pressing the microphone button.
  • Voice quality is now dynamically steered by the audio bandwidth limit set in the meeting room and the network conditions.
  • You can now specify the capacity of your uplink, thus avoiding any possible saturation of your DSL/Cable connection, where upload is often slower than download.

What else was new in 5.0?

  • New name, Marratech Pro becomes simply "Marratech"!
  • New name, Marratech E-meeting Portal becomes "Marratech Manager"!
